The Scope: Hip hop’s most slept on group is back on the block.
Clipse is a fucking cool hip hop group - probably up there with The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest - yet they only managed to sell 9000 copies of this mixtape in the first week of the Re-Up Gang The Mixtape dropping. What the? I can understand if it was another Ja Rule CD or even a Major Flavours compilation… but Clipse? Wake up world and smell the tight rap that brothers Pusha T and Malice, along with Ab-Liva and Sandman bring to the hip hop stables. The foursome is back (their last vehicle was Hell Hath No Fury) embodying the same Clipse sound, this time sans The Neptunes. Despite the absence of Chad and Pharrell, the boys manage to hold it down with hard beats and clever raps, even if the common thread among their lyrics is the green…money…cheddar - just look at the tracklisting: Million Dollar Corner, Street Money, Money and Still Got It For Cheap. Twelve radio-friendly tracks for the bump.
The Wrap: Look out for Till The Casket Drops slated for release at the end of the year.
